OUR TEACHER-HEALER TEAM

Leslie Salmon Jones and Jeff W. Jones are the co-founders of Afro Flow Yoga® (AFY), an embodied practice they created in 2008 that weaves together African Diasporic dance, yoga, and live healing music to support holistic well-being. Their offerings invite the wisdom of nature and the ancestors in transformative healing practices of cultural connection, self-discovery, empowerment, tranquility, and joy. As the vibrant sounds of African drumming resonate, movement intertwines with music, forging a profound and healing somatic bond.
Leslie, CEO of Afro Flow Yoga, is an Alvin Ailey–trained dancer, yoga teacher, and wellness coach. She holds a BA in Health Sciences and Dance from SUNY. For more than 25 years, she has cultivated healing spaces that center intergenerational healing, resilience, and social justice through embodied practice. A sought-after speaker and faculty member at the Omega Women’s Leadership Intensive, her work is inspired by African spirituality, yogic principles, nature's elements, liberation movements of Black people throughout the diaspora, and the power of love. Leslie emanates a loving and grounded energy that promotes multidimensional healing of body, mind, heart, and soul. Her authenticity and extensive experience, along with her deep and authentic commitment to the integration of African diasporic culture, embodied storytelling, movement, and sacred connection make her a truly special and powerful teacher-healer.
Jeff, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and recording artist, creates intuitive soundscapes infused with African-inspired rhythms, instruments, and vocals. With over 20 years of global performance experience, he has shared the stage with icons such as Little Richard and Al Green and performed at venues from Scullers Jazz Club to the inaugurations of President Barack Obama and Governor Deval Patrick. Jeff creates an intuitive dynamic flow through the synergy of his mastery of African rhythms with a stream of consciousness that includes diverse instruments and voice. His use of the djembe (brought directly from Ghana), congas, bongos, Indian bells, tambourine and an an eclectic array of tonal instruments, makes for a healing musical journey. Jeff has enjoyed a career as a professional musician for over 20 years and comes from a lineage of three generations of accomplished musicians.
Together, Leslie and Jeff guide communities worldwide into sacred practices of movement, music, and collective healing. AFY offers weekly classes, monthly workshops, and teacher trainings in Boston, New York and worldwide. They have been featured in Yoga Journal, Black Enterprise, Essence and Oprah Magazines, as well as in the documentary film "Dark Girls" as a culture-centered healing practice for racial trauma. They have offered healing sessions for the American Psychological Association (during Dr. Thema Bryant's presidency), the Oxford Masters Series Trauma Conference (UK), Blue Spirit's Wisdom and Well-Being Weeks (where Dr. Shelly and Dr. Merilla first met them), the Black Yoga Teacher's Alliance Conference, The Caribbean Yoga Conference, Alvin Ailey Extension, the Esalen Institute, and many more.

Dominique Cowling (she, her) is a fiercely tender elemental force from the SF Bay Area region of California. For over a decade, she has been devoted to transforming trauma into practices of collective liberation and care. Her former work as a Healing Justice Program Director centered LGBTQI2S survivors of intimate partner violence, hate violence and police violence through direct service and organizing to end criminalization. She is committed to creating sacred spaces through Restorative Yoga and Soulful Rest offerings, and somatic healing workshops with Reclaiming Our Own Transcendence (ROOT). Her relationship to spirit and the natural world guides her life. As the founder of Black Seeds Project, she provides 1:1 soulful rest sessions and seasonal programs in nature. Through these offerings, she weaves her studies of liberatory movements, psychology, ecotherapy, mindfulness and trauma informed yoga to explore the dynamic nature of our beings.
